Space Saving Homeschool Organization

If you’ve ever looked around at the stacks of homeschool papers, test packets, and completed workbooks piling up and thought, What on earth am I going to do with all of this?—you’re not alone!

I used to keep huge binders for each child each year, thinking it was the best way to stay organized. But as the years went by and the binders multiplied, I quickly ran out of shelf space to store them all! That’s when I switched to a system that has made my life so much easier: long-term storage bins with organized file folders.

Here’s what I do now:
One bin per child (and eventually a second as they move through the years).
Hanging file folders labeled by grade level.
Only keeping the essentials—tests, special projects, a few standout work samples, and anything required by state laws.
A quick-access memory folder for creative writing pieces, and yearly standardized test results.
A streamlined process that makes it super easy to pull materials to reuse when younger siblings reach that grade level!

The bins stack neatly in a coat closet, out of sight but easy to reach at any moment.

This system has been a game-changer for me. It keeps everything organized without taking over my home, and it ensures I have the records I actually need without drowning in paper clutter.

To see my system explained in detail (and see the specific bins I found at Walmart), check out my YouTube video here.

But let’s be real—homeschooling is more than just organization. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with any part of the process—planning, grading, confidence, or just knowing if you’re doing it “right”—I’ve got something that will help.

👉 Check out my Homeschool Crash Course! It’s a step-by-step, self-paced course designed to give you clarity, confidence, and a solid homeschool plan that works for YOUR family.

Here’s what one mom emailed me last week after completing the course:

“I’ve been able to go through and finish the course, and it was a wonderful experience. So informative, fun, engaging, and encouraging, it really gave me a new perspective about the homeschool journey.”

What a joy to hear! I’ve put my 12+ years of experience into making this course simple, practical, and packed with tips that actually work. And the best part? It’s designed so you can get started right away without feeling overwhelmed.
